courtenaybird:
(via Social Media Today)
The best campaigns all exhibited novel thinking in one or more of what I’ve concluded are the six categories, or Six C’s of Success, which are:
Channel. “New” shouldn’t be a synonym for “digital” when it comes to media for reaching consumers. The truly inventive campaigns used new ways to communicate, like incorporating heaters in bus stops with ads,...

Profiles in Courage: Social Media Editors at Big... →
cyan1975:
Five years ago, there was no such thing as a community manager or social media editor at large media organizations. Today, this role exists at places such as the New York Times and NPR, among others. To get a sense of the role of these new social media editors at big media organizations, Craig Silverman spoke with four people currently filling these positions.

Is Social Media Hurting the Environmental...
At a green brand conference this summer, I witnessed something incredible. It wasn’t the speakers, although they were inspiring in their own right. It was the audience that caught my eye. About 90% of them never looked at the stage - instead, they were rapid-typing the content of the speeches into their tweets or blog entries. I was impressed, thinking I was witnessing a glorious mass...

“Social media has stopped being technology when it became social. I think that that is the important tipping point,” said Marian Salzman, president of Euro RSCG Worldwide PR, North America. “The moment we cross over to ‘what are groups doing?’ that’s where social media comes in… . It became a way for people to bring their social lives to a better place. As soon as it reverts to...

One of the best possible advices I was given during my first two weeks at CP+B was from the studio manager in Miami who came up to work on the Microsoft Windows 7 campaign. He told me “Don’t just give creatives what they ask for, give them what they haven’t thought of yet.” and that has been sitting, slowly brewing in my mind. I am here for a reason and sometimes it means I have bring...

I used Posterous. I liked it. It was was easy, but more importantly, it was simple. Why did I decide to stop using it? Because it didn’t offer the design options I desired. Regardless, I enjoy watching and hearing about startups, and the people constantly creating new/innovative ways to interact on the web.

Lame Post by Victors and Spoils
Below is a recent blog post by the new crowd sourcing agency Victors and Spoils. If you don’t know what crowd sourcing is, it’s where you have what is like a contest to create specific content (logo, design, ideas), and the winner or best idea gets used. As represented by the post below, V&S asked people of the internet to design them a new logo. Best logo was used. The controversy...

The truth about college.
lickystickypickyme:
College is a bunch of rooms where you sit for 2,000 hours or so and try to memorize things. The 2,000 hours are spread out over four years. You spend the rest of the time sleeping, partying, and trying to get dates. Basically, you learn two kinds of things in college: 1. Things you will need to know in later life (two hours). 2. Things ...

This is a good example of what I’m talking about when I say ‘emotional’ advertising or experiences. Good visuals, good music, good concept. Huge win in my book.

While there are a couple of things I can already tell I wouldn’t like (mainly the application arrangement/scrolling), this looks like it could have major potential. I’m actually surprised something like this hasn’t become mainstream yet.
