Googlebook?
After it’s mostly failed attempt to create a new Twitter with Google Buzz, Google is now rumored to be creating a new social service that would rival the likes of Facebook. Which begs the question, do we really need another Facebook?
Yes, historically speaking, creating competition is always beneficial to the user/consumer, however do these rules apply to the social media world? People...

A Brillant Mind...I Have Not.
People often get depressed for several reasons. It could be a recent breakup, loss of employment, or a family situation. But I get depressed for another reason, and often times I wonder if the other 99% of the world population ever feels the same.
So what is it that I often get depressed about? The fact, that no matter what I do, I’ll never be a genius. Now first, I should clarify my...

TV DEAD? Hardly.
Many people these days are claiming that TV is dying. More specifically, TV commercials are dying. This is because apparently, the internet is where everyone is spending their time. I guess I can’t argue that. But let me tell you why I don’t think TV commercials (or TV in general) is dying. Because I’m watching more TV now, than I ever have before.
You can probably thank the...

Lamar Is With Coco
It’s official, Lamar Advertising is awesome. In a new promo, they are using Conan O Brien tweets for their boards that are “between ads.” Lamar owns quite a few billboards across the U.S, so it’s safe to say, there really is a place for Conan.

This was forwarded to me from a friend who suggested it was a prime example of “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus”. I think it might be an example that men are from Mars and women are from Earth. It is reported to be from a creative writing class at the University of...
Movies I Want to See Now (Not Later)
1. Inception - Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and directed by Christopher Nolan. It was like someone asked, “What does Brandon Smith want to see in a movie?” And then they made it.
2. Robin Hood - Starring Russell Crowe, and directed by Ridley Scott. This has a lot of live up to, as Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood is an all time classic to me.
3. The Green...

“You have to embrace that randomness and realize that people do things in a swirl. You can’t expect them to be funneled down a nice neat path.” “You have to design your experiences to be flexible—and that’s one of the biggest impediments to the traditional advertising world—that’s the way they think.”

Super interesting talk about gaming, facebook and people - a little long, but worth it. I love how he see ‘beyond the technology’ - sees the inherent human need for gameplay and the psychological undertones for the way we consume technology today.
I’m not sure about the “authenticity” thing though.
I do like the picture of the future he paints towards the end - not for the fact...

Being in advertising, it’s important to stay on top of trends and issues surrounding you and your clients. Because, after all, your clients are paying you to sell their products, so it’s good to know how your audience thinks, right? Ok, I’ll buy that. Walk into any bookstore, and you’ll be sure to find fantastic writings from the Gladwells, the Godins, or the Heaths....

I like websites. I like good websites. I like websites that push the boundaries of interaction. but more importantly, I like websites that tell a story. You can feed me all the content in the world, but if it doesn’t hold any type of message that is relevant to anything but itself, then I don’t care.
That’s why today, for those of you who haven’t already discovered it...
